Flexible Information seems to be the most reliable source of
information in my opinion. Many of these options have flaws to them or have
loopholes the make them weaker than flexible information. Flexible info can be
used for a variety of reasons that capture everything the other options do as a
whole. Every other option is very specific and does not overlap, whereas
flexible info can take care of three or four of the other options at a time. Information
Systems are “sets of interrelated components that collect, manipulate, and
disseminate data and information and provide feedback to meet an objective.”
Some of these IS do not allow all these to happen, but flexible information
lets it happen. If you look at the music industry and record sales, you could
figure out predictions of sales or how to make strategy based on past sales or
tours. This falls under flexible information. Some other IS, such as timely
information, plays a huge part in the music industry. The book states “knowing
last week’s weather conditions will not help you…” However, this is false in
different situations, such as music. Last week’s sales are just as important as
the future sales or as a competitive labels sales of similar artists on their
roster. Flexible information is very versatile in business. The flexible
information contains the data, the information, and leads to the process and
creates knowledge of the whole situation. The input, process, and output can be
put together with flexible information.
